When Colette and Jay were first asked to come to Poland, they were specifically asked to teach English to middle class business people. Drawing on the strength of their own business backgrounds, it was a perfect fit. As one pastor in Poland has put it, "We (the Polish church) have done a great job of caring for the poor, the homeless, the dysfunctional families, and the alcoholics, but we have struggled to reach out to the middle class professionals." Colette and Jay met that challenge head on and over the next few years taught English to doctors, lawyers, judges, political officials, teachers, business owners, computer specialists and a host of other business professionals and their families.

Business people need English to compete and succeed in the global marketplace, to communicate on a daily basis with foreign offices as well as for personal pleasures such as using the internet, watching movies and travel. Young adults need English to enter university and most high school programmes do not prepare students well enough to take the entrance exams.
Graceland has made a commitment to middle class families to provide reasonably priced practical English for moms, dads and teens. With the community environment, both adult and teenage students build relationships that transcend the classroom both with teachers and with other students.
